For more details, go to KSAX facebook page. They have the latest reports. A badger was most likely ruled out because the tail was too long for a badger and the head looks more dog like. The animal wasn’t there in the morning but was in the afternoon. The reports only state the right paw has 5 claws, not sure about the other paws. Mutant?

This is definitely a badger. Badgers DO have longish tails but they look short due to the fur on them. They also have “doglike” or “bearlike” heads under that fur. Look at pictures of the taxidermy forms that badgers are mounted on — they look exactly like this. Jeez, people. I do taxidermy and have recently skinned a badger, and this “weird” animal is exactly what a badger looks like without fur on. It’s hairless due to being wet during decomposition. The hair normally loosens and easily falls out very early in the decomposition process. The loss of hair on a carcass is called “slipping” in taxidermy.
In any event, this is definitely a badger and there is nothing about it that isn’t badger-like. I wish the media folks would knock it off with these silly “monster” and “chupacabra” headlines. People believe in enough ridiculous mythology without the media adding to it.

You are right on about this being a badger. But why not have a little fun? Listening to news of a mysterious creatures gives us a break from the never ending stories of war, bulging deficits, and natural disasters wear. Nothing wrong with a little fun.
