A plan from the Jamestown High School athletic development team came under fire recently after Athletic Director Jim Roaldson presented it at the school board’s regular meeting Monday.

I appreciate that Rosmary McDougall and Dianne Hanson are fighting on the side of arts and music, however some students do have talents in either both or just one.
That being said, $45,000 is far too much money to give to athletics and not give any to arts/music. While I agree with their thoughts, I wish they would not take things so personally and put the students at the front of their arguments. They are very bad at doing this.

It’s disappointing that some board members are willing to settle for mediocrity.

I agree with you. I also find it disappointing that there are several board members that are uninformed on many issues and most meeting times are spent going through things in detail that they should have familiarity with. Reading and staying informed is definitely a huge shortfall for our local board. There are some board members that are never quoted in the paper. I hope new elections bring about some shake-up.

Perhaps there is a few things one on the school board could ” get over.”…. hardly seems an appropriate comment for adults!

I agree with Mrs McDougall.
Also, it is time to take sports out of the school system and replace it with physical education and music/arts for all students. Learning a healthy livestyle for all is best long term.
