Breaking news!! They have kicked the can down the road alittle bit, while the same fools that can’t do the job are going to appoint a small commission to do the job we elected all of them to do!! Nothing short of taxation without representation. Corporations can now donate money to campaigns. Now they have only a small group of OUR elected Representatives lobby! I hope the voters remember to clean out the Senate and House next time.

Massive cuts are needed to solve this mess, with minor tax increases. Any other way is simply irresponsible.

Randy O., I have to agree with you on your post. The area I have concern about is the various lower levels of government have been mandated to carry out many federal policies and programs and am afraid those will be the first items the Feds will cut funding from. The result could be a triple whammy of increased fed taxes, state taxes, as well as local taxes. Which means have we really come up with a solution or have we created a much greater problem by shifting it down to the various levels of government? I would suggest a real discussion and reform of what government is needed and what could be eliminated or at least eliminate the duplication of programs of various departments. One might take notice of the article on Kandiyohi County lamenting the lack of state funding for their programs but nowhere did I see what they might do to reduce the costs.
