This is a bad budget deal for greater Minnesota.
Any high school class from Worthington, Willmar or Wadena would have produced a far better budget for Minnesota property taxpayers and their communities.

Thank you, Mayor. Nice to hear what you have to say and I agree with you.
If the Republicans want to tighten the belt, let em. It will negatively affect schools, roads, construction projects, property taxes, police and fire to name a few. They want to take away medicare and social security at the federal level too. You know, those entitlements we have paid for with our own money. Yes, Let’s let them take it all away and then lets have some elections starting next year. See how the community and the nation feels about that then.

So Mayor, what is your plan to reduce the mess this state is in. No where in your article did I see anything that resembled a plan to help. One liners and Monday morning quarterbacking isn’t a plan. Naughtydog, it’s uninformed talking points like yours that will keep the USA from dealing with the real problem……too much SPENDING! You make it sound like “tightening the belt” is taboo. What do you do when your family budget is spending more than it brings in? Republicans want to take away SS and Medicare? Where do you get your information. Obama’s healthcare debacle actually slashes Medicare……hmmm, why don’t the libs report that. As far as Social Security, why not be able to invest your own $$$? The dems don’t want that because the big secret is there is no “lockbox” with SS money it.

Increase revenue. The Pubs plan is only cuts. The Dems plan is cuts and increase taxes on the top 2%, much more reasonable than the Cut, Cap, and “Balance” of Boehner’s proposal which does slashes SS and Medicare.

I am tired of our local politicians complaining, debating, avoiding, and criticizing… it goes on and on and on…… Those at our local level are just like the ones at the state and federal level, who are they kidding! They are full of Empty promises, useless opinions and prideful boastings.
That is not why I elected you. I did not vote for you to sit around and talk thing to death. I did not vote for you to blame someone else. I VOTED FOR YOU TO ACT. I VOTED FOR YOU TO TAKE CHARGE. I VOTED FOR YOU TO MAKE A DECISION AND STAND BY IT.
You say a high school class could do a better job? Well that goes for your job and those on the council as well. What have you done that is any better? All of you, need to act your age and do your duty with honor and integrity. Rise to the occasion, be better, act better….PERFORM YOUR JOBS BETTER!

Mayor Oborloh has said a lot and it’s making news. I don’t know why some points he mentioned are not in this article. Seems like the citizens of Worthington are the least informed of going on’s in Worthington.
“The city administrator got a hold of the two staff members that were seeking additional employees — one of them, a police officer, the other one was in planning and zoning — and told them ‘Don’t be expecting those positions to be replaced,’ ” Worthington Mayor Alan Oberloh said.
The article that I pasted this from is from the MPR News site entitled, “Cities could raise property tax to make up for state budget cuts.”
There was another informative article in the Winona Daily News called “LGA cuts may increase property taxes.”
No new tax revenue at the State level so as I predicted, our property taxes will probably go up, and services will suffer. We should give credit where credit is due. Thanks, Republicans, for refusing to increase the wealthiest Minnesotans so the rest of us can spread it just a little thinner. We will pay more for fewer services. Police officers? We don’t need no stinkin’ police officers. Thank you so much. I’ll remember come election time.
