Pat E. – Give us a break. Your comments show how partisan YOU are! You’ll likely claim you have a right to YOUR opinion. Well, so does the writer. She came armed with facts. What have you brought, besides attacks? You clearly diminish the value of education spending. There are few things as important and if you grew up in MN, or put kids through the public school system, you SHOULD realize its critical importance.
The governor’s not “galavanting” around the state. He was in St. Cloud, an hour away from wherever the “republicans” are in St. Paul. That assumes that they’re there, waiting to negotiate, coming up with their own compromises or proposals. Most have spread out to their constituent areas to “blame” the Democrats. Dayton had said he’d return immediately to meet if or when they called. Why is that not good enough for you?
You’re fooling yourself if you think the “republicans” are going to single-handedly “save the state”. And you dare to imply that the “republicans” aren’t partisan? They’re all over the media, as well, and haven’t found a microphone they didn’t like!
There are no winners here. Let’s see how much the voters appreciate all this when November 2012 rolls around.

Today, Mark Dayton is quoted to have said on an MPR blog dedicated to the shutdown: “I’ve made three proposals, compromise proposals to try to resolve the situation,” he said. “I’ve not in the last 13 days of the shutdown received a single proposal from the Republican side. So, as soon as they’re willing to negotiate, I’m ready and willing to do so.”
