List of Minnesota lawmakers who declined, accepted July pay
July 11, 2011 at 11:11 am in Grand Forks Herald
According to payroll offices in the state House and Senate, 62 Minnesota state lawmakers deferred their July 1 paycheck as the state government shutdown got under way. Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton is also declining his paycheck during the shutdown. Continue Reading

The quickest way to end this standoff is to declare MN legislators “non essential” and give them the same deal that they have given over 20,000 state workers. Layoff notices with no pay until a budget deal is reached and the government restarts.
The legislators are not doing their work and have failed the people of Minnesota. Give me one good reason why they should continue to receive pay for doing nothing. Really, they aren’t even meeting regarding the budget. In particular “Amy Kook” and “Kurt Zealot” are the worst offenders. They act as if they had nothing to do with the shutdown but are fat and happy to do absolutely nothing to resolve the impasse. As long as they receive pay this do nothing attitude will prevails.
Let’s give them a little pain to motivate them to get off their duffs and get to work for Minnesotan’s. This should be a shameful event but it seems they just don’t care about the people of Minnesota. This will go down in history as one of the lowest moments for Minnesota. Shame, shame, shame!

Someone needs to step to the plate after this and put a bill (Or however they do it for bi-laws) that will automatically stop pay to legislatures the minute the shut down the state. There’s no reason they should be making there’s when they’ve locked out the others….Especially considering that they aren’t staying in session throughout the crisis….
