I work in the CJ system and can tell you chemical treatment is always attempted with offenses based in substance abuse. Accountability should not be displaced by treatment. The offender in this case deserves prison. She is likely getting treatment inside. She can do more treatment once she is out. If she is a repeat offenderas the article indicates I’d be very surprised if she hasn’t done treatment at least once, likely more.
