Funny, I grew up in the same era and my dad and my friends’ dads were fantastic. Generalizing the fathers of that era is a disservice, especially the part of this column insinuating the hard-worker who does “manly” things is not good at being a dad. My dad, and many others I know, worked their tails off, provided for their families, did “manly” things and managed to raise outstanding, well-adjusted families. I wouldn’t want the author (a “fatherhood” counselor” whatever that means) dispensing advice to anyone I know.
