It is my understanding that the incumbant being forced to run in a ‘recall’ election, does not have to face a primary. The whole point of a recall election is to try to unseat the incumbant. The primary is to determine who that candidate will be. Perhaps someone to the right of a republican wants the chance to beat the incumbant, how would they do that other than to get their name on the ballot for the primary?
You are right, danimal, Wisconsinites don’t like cheating in elections. To have one’s name placed on the ballot legitimately is not cheating. However, you will be relieved to know that voter ID will address the cheating problem once and for all on the voting end of elections.
By the way, you guys seem to forget the democrat who ran in New York as a tea party candidate last spring to mess up the playing field. Long time democrat Jack Davis ran in a congressional special election just to mess up the field for the true conservative candidate. I guess it’s only outrageous when the dems are the ‘victims’ of such ‘shenanigans’.
