Editorial: Political parties have betrayed us

It’s hard to say where it started, and likely the long slide to irrational rancor between Republicans and Democrats in Wisconsin began well before ordinary voters had a clue. But it’s time to stop. Continue Reading

The “extremism” of our government did not start with the election of Scott Walker and the republicans. It has been around for a long time, but in this day and age were (miss)information is spread at the speed of the internet, it does not take long to get the troops organized. Where was your editorial about the extreme regime of the Democrats under O’Doyle when they passed draconian tax increases in the shadows of the night (which produced zero increase in revenue from the group hit) and cig taxes on the poor, that the DEM’s claim to represent, or stomp on private property rights by instituting smoking requirements in business’ that the government does not own? Reps running fake candidates? The Democrats had placeholder candidates to push a primary in every race regardless if the Republicans put up a “fake” candidate or not, and this is not the first time this has occurred. I believe in 2008 we had one Bob Hughes who ran in a primary against Sheila Harsdorf as a conservative. To find out he is a dye in the wool socialist who was instrumental in bragging about submitting the most recall petitions against Harsdorf. The REP’s did nothing illegal and that was put to rest with the WI supreme court ruling, the only one’s who did anything illegal was the DEM’s for a dereliction of duties when the fled to IL. Going back to bargaining rights, why did the unions send 80K protesters to Madison, but not a peep in Massachusetts? You do know that MA is in the process of passing the same bill that WI has, right? The differance, MA is run by Democrats. For a long time, that silent majority, stood by and just shook there heads at the western Kremlin, better known as Madison. We went to work, we provided for our family and paid our taxes. But over the last 2 decades, as those paying income taxes dwindled to less than 50%, it has become more of a burden for us to not only support our own family, but someone else’s as well. Perhaps the motive behind the kneecapping of the unions is jealosy and envy, or it could be that we cannot afford the government we have elected anymore. Either way, nice editorial, but from this conservative, I feel a little miss guided. Thanks!
