ROTHSAY, Minn. Lynn Peterson, who was placed on administrative leave by Staples-Motley High School earlier in the year, has been offered the Rothsay High athletic director position.

Congrats Lynn! Sweet Justice!
Only accept the offer if they offer you full authority, and a parachute deal for any exit issues that are not done with full disclosure and process! Make sure you have legal protections from the same BS you experienced before!

It is unfortunate that winning basketball games is more important than the safety of your students. There is a reason Lynn Peterson was forced to resign…… It will only be a matter of time before the Rothsay school board recognizes what a mistake they made.

The allegations that were made in Staples are both unclear to the public and seemingly unproven. It would probably be helpful to the citizens and students of Rothsay if someone could or would share something true and clear rather than a vague warning.

Unless there are criminal charges, the allegations will always remain unproven. His friends and family will defend him by saying he was forced to resign because the boys bb team didnt have a winning season or because parents wanted him out because they didnt give their child enough playing time. Staples would not hire an attorney and have a full investigation if that were the case. If he resigned willingly from Staples, then why is he out job hunting? All I can say is what I know to be true. I would not waste a single minute on this topic if I did not feel it necessary to warn you to keep a close watch on this man when he is near your daughters and wives. I probably speak for a large number of parents when I say we are so thankful to have this person out of our school district and away from our children.

The allegations were proven during the investigation, that is why the school board chose to post his position for the upcoming school year. He either resigned before he could be fired or was given the option of resigning to save the school from humiliation. I gave a statement to the school concerning Mr. Peterson during the investigation. I wouldn’t trust him in any position of power. As far as I’m concerned there should be criminal charges filed by the school to protect this same thing from happening again. I believe they didn’t because they would leave themselves open to a lawsuit for failing to open an investigation a long time ago.
