danimal, a Democrat ran in the NY 26 special US Senate election as a Tea Party Candidate. (May 2011)
As bad as you think the Repubs are, the Dems have done it previously. I think the Repubs are the slow thinkers, or have to wage an internal conscious battle before crossing lines.
BTW, that Senate seat was open because the former Senator, Chris Brown, resigned after sending “flirtatious emails” and shirtless pics of himself.
Then we have Congressman Weiner in his gray underwear (and reportedly full frontal nude pics) who will not resign because his behavior doesn’t affect his job and he didn’t violate his oath of office.
Double standard? Different values? Shamed vs no shame? Do your own thinking on that one.

“tea partiers and liberals don’t have that wide a difference on economic issues.”
This is from wikipedia on “Tea Party”:
The Tea Party movement (TPM) is an American populist[1][2][3] political movement which is generally recognized as conservative and libertarian,[4][5] and has sponsored protests and supported political candidates since 2009.[6][7][8] It endorses reduced government spending,[9][10] opposition to taxation in varying degrees,[10] reduction of the national debt and federal budget deficit,[9] and adherence to an originalist interpretation of the United States Constitution.[11]
The old Democrat party has been hijacked by the far left/socialists and is all about big government, getting more people to take money from the government (best example: extending unemployment benefits), running up the deficit (progressive Repubs are doing this too), taking away individual freedoms.
The problem with regulations for big companies is the regulators have to keep writing regs to keep their job relevant, and soon they are writing regs for small business. Where does it stop?

The Recall process is a ridiculous waste.
Hot debate. What do you think?

“The upcoming recall elections are unprecedented not only in Wisconsin, but in our nation’s history,â€
Mr. Thompson, executive dir of the Republican Party of WI, could use a fact checker. Not only have their been numerous recalls in our nation’s history there have been some in WI too. Two WI State Senators, in fact, have been recalled in the last 15 years.
The papers ought to add a line correcting the quote or pull the quote on the basis that it’s a lie. Who could argue with that?
Hot debate. What do you think?

34
TR, the quote is correct (I went on the WIGOP website to read it.) I remember hearing a news report a while back stating the NUMBER of recall elections occurring at the same time was unprecedented. Is that possibly what Mr Thompson meant?

Without the threat of violence, people generally can’t be forced to do something he/she doesn’t want to do. I doubt the Repubs are “forcing” this Repub, Mr Weix, to run against Moore.
Is it possible Mr Weix sees another opportunity to run for office and is taking it? Why do you assume only a Democrat can challenge Ms Harsdorf in a recall election? Show me that rule.
You keep talking about honest candidates. Why were YouTube videos of Ms Moore at NEA meetings scrubbed off the internet shortly after it was announced she was running? If Ms Moore is honest about who she is, why is she afraid of her past? Would those videos show her saying things that would cast a negative light on her caring, listening portrayal?
Ms Harsdorf has been reelected because she does the job, and in this case the job stinks. How enjoyable is it for you to cut your budget? Imagine the problems doing it when it affects others.
The Repubs have to deal with a deficit problem…aside from “tax the rich” (the states that have done it, NY, have found the actual revenue is significantly less than the expected revenue) what are your ideas?

danimal, you can be exasperating.
Provide source info for your claims:
1. wealth disparity
2. lowest income taxes in 50 years
3. 2/3 of “big” corp. don’t pay taxes (BTW, what are the criteria that differentiate between big and small corporation???)
4. Koch “invented” oil speculation (I’m really interested in this source since that doesn’t even make sense.)
5 Speculation adds 75 cents/gallon. I agree speculation by investors AND retirement funds adds to the cost of ALL commodities. How much tax is added to each gallon? How much has a strong US dollar added to the cost, arguably artificial since the Fed has pushed QE 1,2 and now possibly 3
sources danimal, otherwise you are just parroting the Soros funded media and foundations.
I believe in supply side economics because I’m in business and deal with the impact regulation, taxes, speculative pressures on commodities, and “non existent” inflation have on my business and therefore my life.
It is also why I view the state and federal deficits as a ticking time bomb….where’s the honest conversation about that?

danimal, you got me curious about the history of commodity speculation.
While doing a Bing search, I think I found your source of info. Is it a website named: “Think Progress?” Your posts seem to include a lot of their points.
This “nonpartisian” “news site”, Think Progress, is funded by Center for American Progress Action Fund. From http://www.sourcewatch.org on Center for American Progress:
“The Center for American Progress was begun in 2003 with funding from philanthropists Herbert M. Sandler and Marion O. Sandler[1] It is a Washington, DC-based liberal think tank created and led by President and Chief Executive Officer John D. Podesta, the head of Barack Obama’s presidential transition team after the 2008 election and former Chief of Staff for President Bill Clinton.
In 2009 CAP’s Progressive Media project emerged as a major communications war room on behalf of Obama’s domestic and foreign policy agenda and CAP became a strong advocate for escalation in Afghanistan. Progressive Media is run through the Center for American Project Action Fund, the more political 501(c)4 arm of CAP. It coordindates closely with the Common Purpose Project, an effort to create message discipline among the pro-Obama organizations, with a direct tie to the White House.”
From SourceWatch on Ctr. for Am Progress funding:
“The Center for American Progress is classified as a 501(c)(3) organization under U.S. Internal Revenue Code. The institute receives approximately $25 million per year in funding from a variety of sources, including individuals, foundations, and corporations. From 2003 to 2007, the center received about $15 million in grants from 58 foundations. Major individual donors include George Soros, Peter Lewis, Steve Bing, and Herbert M. Sandler. The Center receives undisclosed sums from corporate donors.[5]
Wal-Mart is a major funder of the Center for American Progress, having given at least half a million dollars to the organization. [6] Wal-Mart has been a major backer of Pres Obama’s health care legislation, which critics contend would disproportionately drive up costs for Wal-Mart’s smaller competitors. [7]”
And this extra tidbit from SourceWatch:
“Center for American Progress is funded in part by individuals who are members of the Democracy Alliance.
In 2006, the Center for American Progress was given a three-year, $3,000,000 grant by George Soros’ Open Society Institute to be used for “general support”
Now I still have a bit of time to research the development of commodity speculation. Do your own research danimal, perhaps starting with who is funding the groups/websites you parrot.

GE’s tax breaks are all from liberal mandates. If you are going to spew hatred against the Repubs every chance you get you might want to at least make sure you leave out the Dem’s favorite corporate beneficiaries lest people get confused and think the Dem’s are the problem. (which they are) Dems shouldn’t even be allowed to talk about economics as their policies are incoherent and illogical.

Chad, I don’t care if GE tax breaks are from “liberal mandates.” I don’t care if the wealth and big business are democrats or republican libertarian tea partiers, I say ALL OF THEM NEED TO PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE, regardless as to who provided the mandate.
Don’t y’all get it, it’s about what is best for the “people,” not what is best for “profits” or a “political party.”
Hot debate. What do you think?
16
25
When you refer to what is best for the “people,” which “people” are you referring to exactly?
Here’s the problem: There is no uniform block of “people” who think identically, so what is ‘best’ for one person may not be ‘best’ for someone else. People’s opinions and values are spread across a spectrum on every conceivable topic and issue. This makes it challenging to implement a single solution on any given issue that pleases everyone. For example, limiting collective bargaining for public servants is something that many people are in favor of, but it is obvious that this is a fairly contentious issue since it has lead to recall efforts for six legislators that voted in favor of it.
Another topic that will be difficult to get agreement on is determining what is the “fair share” for any given taxpayer. I understand that you want to sock it to the rich man, but on the other hand, is it fair for 46% of income earners to have zero federal income tax liability?

Full defense mode from the out of state union thugs who are behind all these relentless recalls. Official elections don’t hold any weight anymore. If you don’t like what is happening, you just start recalling everyone until you get your way. “we the people” have become “we the spoiled”. It’s truly pitiful what the political landscape as become in WI and all the way to the White House. It’s all a cesspool of corruption.

Ms Riley: “Looks to me like the Republicans are in full panic mode.”
Too bad your comment is hidden due to low rating, it’s humorous. Your blue sunglasses are tinting your perspective.
I think you are seeing an uprising of “common people” (the ones Obama said held onto their guns and God) who have witnessed the destruction being brought onto this country by the radical left and have said: “ENOUGH, we want our freedom back.”
Leave my damn lightbulbs alone; let me choose to be self-insured for health care without the threat of being in violation of the “expert” health care bureaucracy-the IRS; and QUIT spending money we don’t have (unless we borrow it from the Chinese.)
Take off your sunglasses Ms Riley and see the light.

Interesting poll at the New Richmond newspaper website….also basically meaningless. Those who log in can vote, so the voting block is limited to those who want to sign up.
Meaningful polls include collection methodology and a breakdown of things such as age, sex, income and education level, political party identification. The meaningful polls try to attain a balanced sample. I’ve learned over the last few years to look at the methodology before looking at the results….it explains a lot of the polls reported on by the MSM. NR poll? yawn

I believe they are for the “common people†to vote their displeasure over elected officials, yes?
LOL…These recalls are not back by “common people”. Where would the resources and money come from? Joe and Nancy down the street?
I guess they are paying a little more attention to what the majority wants now, eh? LOL…The majority spoke in the last election. There are no re-do’s in the real world. No Mulligans. The people speak and you wait until the next election.
Same reasoning applies to the commander in “disbelief”. And we all no what a joke he was/is on the people. OMG!!! A community organizer, aka, a mayor, knows squat about how to run a country. The almighty was hand picked and is “fed” everything that comes out of his mouth. Good grief!!! Get a clue!!!

Recall is about power-hungry public unions…
The Wisconsin Senate recall race is on for July 12th…and if the stakes weren’t so high, it would make for interesting political fodder this summer.
Democrat and English/drama teacher, Shelly Moore, represents the public unions, who, despite their never-ending thirst for money, can’t explain why educational test scores don’t improve and why Johnny can’t read.
Two-thirds of the eighth graders in Wisconsin public schools can’t read proficiently according to the U.S. Department of Education, despite the fact that Wisconsin spends more per pupil in its public schools than surrounding Midwestern states.
If you’re reading and comprehending this newspaper, you might be a dying breed!
It’s also interesting to note how quickly union bosses threw teachers under the bus when the “collective bargaining†debate began. Almost immediately the unions accepted reducing teachers’ salaries and benefits in a strategic move to hopefully retain their own collective bargaining rights.
“Collective bargaining†is the big monster in the room. It provides unions with forced dues from their members, enormous political power and influence.
Collective bargaining puts all public union members in the same collective “group†regardless of whether those members are effective in their jobs.
This makes it virtually impossible to properly reward the most proficient workers, or even worse, to replace ineffective, incompetent workers.
Unfortunately public unions, and some of their members, who see their golden goose being tampered with, are lashing out by attempting to recall Sheila.
Recalling an ethical representative like Sheila would be a travesty, and a devastating blow to Wisconsin.
I witnessed Sheila at a rally where she very patiently and confidently stood among angry protestors, calmly and respectfully answering questions and explaining why changes are necessary.
Many in this district admire and respect Sheila Harsdorf. We will gladly support and revote for her July 12.

Sheila Harsdorf has my vote once again!

All the people who believed the 2008 campaign promises of hope and change are now the ones who are protesting the change needed to correct all the bad decisions made over the years. You can’t have it both ways. We are finally at a crossroad to make the changes needed to pave our way out of these massive debts. We can’t let this opportunity slip by. Not this time. If we don’t take the wheel and drive the right road, we’ll be forever lost in a world of hopelessness.
