Got to start somewhere. Its a lot more respectable to take what work you can get as opposed to sitting at home accepting welfare or standing on a corner begging.

There may be lots of job oppurtunities but the wage scale here is not where it should be.This is the land of the 8 dollar an hour job.This community suffers from not having enough industry to drive the wage up.Who wants to work in a fast food resteraunt or retail store the rest of their lives.North Dakota needs to be unionized to better protect employees and to also give them the wage they deserve.

True. In Grand Forks the vast number of jobs are in the service industry, which assures them to be low-paying. A while back it came out that ND had the highest per capita rate of two spouse employment, and the highest rate of multi-job employment. I’m no great fan of unions, but years ago, during the Simplot strike, it came out that a 20-year employee there with a high school diploma was making more than a 20-year full professor at UND.
