To pass laws abridging the rights of women to participate in their own healthcare decisions is wrong. The government is supposed to stay out of peoples personal lives, is Conservative Mantra.
The only way to stop abortions is to remove the reasons why women get them in the first place. To stigmatize women who seek abortions is not one of those ways.
We need to address poverty, and the gender inequity in this country before any meaningful changes in the amount of abortions will happen, THATS where the legislation should be focused.. not on stigmatizing desperate women.
