WAHPETON, N.D. A police officer here has been suspended for five days without pay and must take 40 hours of remedial law enforcement training as punishment for arresting a juvenile without probable cause an incident the teenager recorded and posted as a YouTube video that went viral. When the cops arrest a juvenile they should not be detained at the adult jail and should not be processed at the jail unless its a gross or felony charge. After the booking process they are taken to the juvenile detention center. A cop should not bring any juveniles to the jail for any misdemeanor charges or hold them at any adult jail while they are deciding who the kid is or what charges might be pending? Some cops can get confused but they should study up on juvenile law.

hey j.d., didnt see anything in the report about the kid being brought into any jail, just that he was detained and later released. Thanks for the update on juveniles being brought into a jail setting anyway. I’d really like to know the story behind the story, like what past contact brought about this kid wanting to film the officer in that context.

Johnny, the boy is a member of We Are Change. WAC does good for all of humanity. They stand up for you and your rights, even though you are not even aware you are being violated by the system. They’re like guardian angels. Anyway, this officer does unlawful raids by not obtaining a search warrant. This boy was doing a documentary on it, that’s all, nothing sinister about him, no run ins with the law. He has other videos of his work and you can watch other We Are Change videos to see them standing up for YOU. This officer IS a bully and is doing unlawful things. If you didn’t watch the video, you should. I applaud this smart young man. While the rest of the people are playing with their latest gadget and deciding if they should super size the garbage called food at their local fast food, this boy is out there protecting what little rights you have left and working to undo the harm that has already taken place to humanity.

I would rather see him get a job, rather than walk around with a camera.

Where does it say he doesn’t work at a job along with WAC? What would our lives be if everybody just punched a timeclock and nobody took the time to stand up for our rights, laws and rules?

Johnny read the internet then look up lawsuits that have taken place in regards to juverniles being detained in a jail setting. The same goes for females who sued for being stripped out at jail for misdemeanors. You would be surprised whats on the net. If you need to know I was a PO in the cites at one time even before all this fuss about juveniles and lawsuits against jails was taking place. Retired now and thank goodness, its rough out there at times.

j.d., I dont doubt your community service announcement, I was just wondering how you read into this article to add your internet facts, thats all. Seems this has more to do with WAC and an agenda or an ongoing issue with that officer than it does juv’s in jail.
