Two recent incidents caused me to consider the roundabout. We received a driver’s license renewal notice from the State of Wisconsin which included a detailed instruction sheet on how to drive ‘around’ a roundabout. They a GREAT idea. The problem is the typical American is too busy eating, texting, talking on phone to be concerend with silly stuff like “yeilding to traffic in the circle” and other such bothers.
They are the simplest ideas for traffic control- YEILD TO TRAFFIC IN THE CIRCLE- you dont just drive in at any moment with traffic that may be going around. Theorettically, your supposed to signal your intent to leave the circle…good luck with THAT in the US.
I drive the ones in lakeland frequently. I cant say how many times I have almost been hit by idiots not looking for traffic (me) in the circle.
