Considering how little a lot of houses cost in Grant county, it seems like a renter having a hard time wouldn’t have a horribly difficult time getting a mortgage if he/she lives frugally.
Brandon or Evansville (I think it’s the latter) is practically giving away land if you’re willing to build. Perhaps subsidies for people to move to locations where their earning potential is more in line with housing costs would be better than subsidizing rent for a long time.
