Minnesota law agencies get tough today on distracted drivers

If you’re driving, put down that cellphone or sandwich. Law enforcement agencies across Minnesota are cracking down on distracted driving today. Open the article link, then scroll down to see two new public service ads about texting while driving. Continue Reading

States should enact laws that allow police to take away the device that is distracting the driver. It’s like law enforcement is dealing with children on the road playing with their toys, unable to drive safely. Take away the toy and that removes the distraction. That includes drivning with a cell phone glued to your ear. It means you are driving with one hand. In many situations that’s not safe. Let the judge decide if you get that cell phone back!

From my semi I see a lot of things in cars below me. I haven’t seen cops text, but I’ve seen several with a phone to their ear while driving…..That’s never mad much sense to me…..As for the general public it’s not just being destracted, but sometimes the danger is because of the way someone drives in the first place….Sometimes I see people driving down the road with their legs crossed under them…And no sticker or any other signs that would indicate a car adapted for handicap driving. How they plan to break fast is beyond me………But one of the biggest distractions I’ve seen is some drivers who seem to have to look at the person in the next seat while talking to them. I don’t mean a glance but a full head turn for way too long…Unless they need to read lips there’s really no need for this…..All the other things like reading books and such are out there…..Unfortunately the people doing it are often doing it in high traffic areas….Why is anyones guess….

The distracted driving I see a lot is people with their dogs in their laps.
How can they steer or see with the dog in the way?
What if the dog starts jumping around?
If they rear end another car the poor dog is going to get crushed.
Is the dog a new safety feature? Instead of airbags you have K9 stoppers!
