April 13, 2011 at 7:00 pm in Duluth News Tribune
Come November, two-thirds of the seats on Duluth’s City Council will be up for grabs. And, although Election Day is still more than half a year away, a few races already are emerging, as well as some potential openings.

Oh for the love of god will someone please run against Gardner. I don’t care who you are, I’ll probably vote for you.

Gardner said she would waste the experience she has accrued if she doesn’t serve another four years on the council.
Sharliar is waste plain and simple.

Sharla is like Michelle Bachmann’s Mini Me. How people even voted her into office in the first place is amazing and everything that falls out of her mouth makes people say “WTF?” If you have a pulse and live in the 3rd district please throw your name into the ring.

Exactly what we need: Another city employee with little-to-no real world fiscal experience. Need more money? Just ask for it in your next budget proposal……which is a crappy way of doing things.

Where’s Dave Anderson, or yellowdog, or rambo? Let’s put one of them in office and see how they do.

That would be a vast improvement to the city council. There’s already too many Mervs spoiling the council broth.

Not a one of them should be able to run for another term. They should all get the boot and we can start over. This overwhelming idea of self importance they all have and the micro managing need to be eliminated immediately. It’s really too bad they can’t be fired.

Can you explain why you would fire them ?

They don’t focus on what they were elected to focus on. They want to micro manage every aspect of every little “goings on” in the City. They have butchered the rental ordinance, oppose any growth or business and effectively stymie all of it, want to fight the feds over local immigration enforcement, it just goes on and on. That’s just recently, every time I read about what Gardner’s up to or Stauber my stomach rolls. They conduct their business with a certain arrogance that isn’t benefecial at all to the City. Unfortunately, it appears to be a learned behavior from the seasoned councilors to the new ones, that’s why we have to just start over. Fedora is the only one with any common sense.

I agree there are times that we need to do a much better job focusing on our neighborhood rather than take on the politics of the State or Nation. With the events happening outside our control at the National and State level you are correct in saying we need to do a much better job focusing on our issues and the solutions for a better Duluth
Thanks for answering

Fedora does just that. When we had so many street reconstruction problems that went on for Nearly Three Years he was checking Every Morning and sometimes met with residents on his way home if not when the problem was happening. Stauber was also right there to help.
Both have shown fiscal restraint…..something desperately needed when we have a mayor off buying white elephants (Norshor).
Sharla ‘pie in the sky’ ‘head in the clouds’ Gardner needs to go. Then she will have all the time in the world to get her pic taken with Dayton and dance to her hearts content.

Fossle and Fedora are the only two on the ball on the clowncil. The rest are a certain type clown including Stauber who is a putz trying please everyone. This putz lost all my respect on the rental ordinances.
I have the following comment on the AFSCME DFD owned clowncilors that need to be replaced:
Tony Cuneo was delinquent over $11,000 on property taxes.
Gardner is just plain inept and I am being real nice on this one.
Barney Frank Jr. has his agenda and I hope he runs for congress.
Halberg’s past financial problems clearly are why she should not be involved with big money decisions.

Of course Russell is not interested in running against Jay. It is much more fun to bomb around in a Mustang with the top down smoking cigs!

It is truly sad that the council is bought and paid for by the unions of the this town. Anyone who doesn’t think so, needs to go the local emergency room to get their head out of their….yea. This has so much potential but those three magical letters politics are killing it. There is a reason that students come to Duluth for college, and than head out.
