The sad truth about catchers in the ML is they take a beating catching behind the plate. Finger injuries, shoulder injuries and knee injuries are the three most common injuries that can shorten a catchers career. Mauer who is one hell of a hitting catcher is getting a little banged up behind the plate, and every year he is back there is going to put wear and tear on him and his performance. The Twins may want to DH him a bit more.
