WILLMAR The organizers of a youth science retreat held Saturday in Willmar had hoped the event would draw about 150 kids eager to learn about science and see that studying science, technology, engineering and math in school could lead to exciting science-based careers.

I think there was some confusion on the age group as the flyer I saw (from the Chamber’s calendar) said for grades 6-12, but then another ad said ages 6-12. My 9th-grade niece (a science nut) came from an hour and a half away and said it would have been cool for her 5th-grade brother. Thankfully, though, Willmar had some good shopping for her to enjoy.
