Every year you see tires and concrete, both not allowed, refrigerators and freezers with the doors still on, and paint, batteries, lots of stuff not allowed. Nothing happens to those people. And the pickup will always start in the more prosperous neighborhoods like around the lake first. The trash pickup is more like a joke really. It only serves a few special people promptly, and the rest of us can just lump it. Also not fair because there is a surcharge in the city bill to cover it. This service has been already paid for and here they tell us pay again. Typical government services. We want a rebate of the fee that we have aready paid! And stop showing favoritism to the rich and powerful by picking up their stuff first every year. Pick up the main roads in to down town first.

Isn’t that what the Solid Waste & Trash Cost of ($8.96) on our monthly utilities bill is for? Yearly cost of $107.52. Am I wrong or did someone forget to mention that? I know they forgot to mention that a full 50%+ houses put out nothing. I generally have nothing out there. Why not quit that yearly cost thing and just let the people who use the service pay for it, or take their own stuff out. Is the city really worried about the cost of this? It sounds like it could be another squeeze to me. Shouldn’t the city be providing services to the taxpayers with taxpayer’s money and get out of the trash business! If it is needed, let the lower paid private sector business do it!

To me, Spring cleanup is “one mans junk is another mans treasure”.
I love going and looking at the things people set out, I have picked up some really good items in cleanup.
Its like a big swap meet.
I think its a shame that the city is charging us $8.96 a month (which is added onto our utility bill)
and now they have the right to say, we can’t put out the normal stuff (furniture ect) unless we pay $10 per item for Spring cleanup. Aren’t we already paying enough?
If you take 1 pickup load to the landfill it will not cost you over $100 which is what we are getting charged on our monthly utility bill, but NOW we can’t have over a pickup load set out for cleanup.
And what about the people who never put anything out, and they are still get charged the same amount.
I do understand people should not be putting out recyclables in their junk piles, they need to be recycled.
The paper said, things that are small enough to go in the weekly trash should be place in your garbage can.
The thing is with people, they don’t want to throw good things into the garbage, so they set it out for Spring cleanup hoping someone who can use it, takes it.
If you place it into your garbage can, you know it is going to the landfill.
People of Worthington, please give your opinion on Spring cleanup, the city needs to know how we all feel about it.
I for one don’t have alot of money, and I appreciate Spring cleanup.
