Food pantries see growing demand

Hunger in Jamestown is becoming more commonplace and at the same time donations to food pantries to feed those mouths are decreasing.
“We’ll always have food but with the need growing it’s kind of scary,” said RaeAnn Kracht, food pantry coordinator for Community Action Region VI.

Scary? Please, we’ve all got it good in North Dakota. I suspect if one would dedicate themselves full time to feeding themselves they could be totally self sufficient by begging, fishing and gardening alone. When’s the last time someone starved to death in North Dakota? Can’t remember? Case and point. It’s because there’s no hunger crisis.

You guys can down vote all you want, but you know I’m right! There’s no one that’s starved to death in this county in at least five years and I dare anyone to prove it! Go ahead, but it doesn’t change the fact!!!!!

An old saying comes to mind….
“Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime, even if Michael Wensman doesn’t agree.”

What’s that Wensman? You think you can just throw food at something and then it’s going to go take care of itself? A church? A bum down by the railroad tracks? No, first you need to teach it to food. The operative word here is to teach, not need or, “their” need in that sense. I hate to get philosophical on here, but yes. A program in conjunction with fooding people I would support. But not if it involved religion.

I don’t agree with either philosophy. I don’t donate money or food to charity because I earned it. If you want to eat get a job, and if a job isn’t enough get another. If that’s not enough you’re living too lavishly. It seems that people today are afraid of doing work. I say quit giving handouts and force these people to contribute to society if they want society to contribute to them!

Food pantries accept toiletries, like shaving cream and shampoo?! First of all, that’s not even food. Second why do we have obligations to feed and clean these individuals. They’re adults! They should have worked harder.

Those who make their own food shall never go hungry. Those were the words that I was brought up on, and I think if more people tried this, there would be fewer hungry people! For how much time Mr. Grinavich and Mr. Wensman waste “commenting” on the news, others could raise cattle. Or corn. Or tomatoes, like my wife.
