It’s a tough argument Virgil to decide the best all around team, many to choose from. As far as entertainment value, I would have to say the Archie era was the most exciting.

Virg I have to agree you nailed this one….
To me the hallmark of the early 80′s team was their tenacity and work ethic. They had a lot of talent–I still remember some amazing puck handling by Murray and Patrick–but when a puck needed to be dug out from the boards and moved around I’ve never seen a team that won those tough battles more often.
Captain Dave Tippett–not a big guy, not the fastest guy, not the most skilled guy–was a captain of the team and perhaps the best example of that tenacity. He played some 700 games in the NHL before his NHL coaching career started.
The Hrkac circus seemed to just mesmerize oppose defenses and were the most dominant offensive team I have seen in college hockey.

I was too young to remember the ’80-’82 team. The ’87 team was like the Globetrotters of hockey, very fun to watch. I don’t think there will ever be anything like that team again.
