This editorial comes from The Dickinson Press editorial board? It reads more like it was written by a lot of the people that sit around and post comments on things they read in the paper than by professional journalists. They trot out the old argument “Since when is it the government’s responsibility to raise our children?”, similar to the people that claim that everyone should be able to run their business the way they want–let them smoke in bars. Why does this bill stipulate the bar has to be smoke free? As a parent, if I drive my children around in my car while smoking, maybe I want to be able to take them into a smoke filled bar. Let’s also let them have a beer with their pizza while we’re there. Oh, wait, the government says minors can’t drink. Well, maybe at least I could have my thirteen year old drive me to the bar. Sorry, the government says he’s not old enough to drive. Support the bill if you must, but please come up with a better argument. Like it or not the government is already telling you many things you can and cannot do.
