Who’s got the button?

$70,000,000.00! Wow, that is big money in today’s economy. What makes a good school? My opinion is that it is not the sports facilities and other proposed hub nice to haves but rather the cirriculum, administration, teachers and students. These folks deserve to work and learn in an environment that lends itself to effectively educating and learning. The school building including classrooms is a need to have. The rest, including all other hub amenities, are nice to haves. Let’s build and pay for what is needed. After the needs are paid for then let’s address funding and building the nice to haves.

They state that security and safety is an issue at the present school. I have a question and would like to know the answered. Why can’t there be cameras in the classrooms and on the grounds. Cameras have helped to protect people and help Law Enforcement personnel if there is a crime or disturbance of some type. With cameras less security personnel are needed. It would also help the school to control unruly students and monitor classrooms, halls and grounds. We already have some on the buss just for that reason. Someone might think it is an invasion of privacy, for those persons just remember you are on camera whenever you shop.

Spend baby spend. What’s next? If Alex wants to have the nicest facilities in the state, then start to “pony-up” on your wages so we can afford to pay for it. You’ve got some convincing to do, to get my peers to vote for this.

I agree with Ginger – we need teachers and good classrooms – what would it cost to expand and renovate JEFFERSON HIGH SCHOOL?

I like the idea of having a 9-12 high school. It’s years overdue. Freshmen should be offered better opportunity to access the high school curriculum. As for expanding Jefferson, it’s currently not even big enough to house 10-12. There are congestion issues in areas that were added on in the late 1970’s. And I am not talking about the out houses. Poor planning back then needs to be dealt with now. I don’t feel that it would be practical to expand on an area with so little room for future growth beyond today.
