Considering African-American HAVEN’T always been treated as “equals” in this country, the organization was just attempting to highlight the advancement they have made, as people. They specifically say that it’s about unity of all people. The military DOES pull together for the good of the country and it too recognizes the advancement of African-Americans. Not all races have had the luxury of being the “majority” or being “equal”. Don’t read too much into this thoughtful expression.
