Gas Prices on the Rise

Gas prices have once again started rising. Experts say the ongoing unrest in the Middle East is causing oil prices to rise. That’s leaving everyone’s wallet a little lighter. Continue Reading

You have gas station owners from Fargo saying there’s no money in the selling gas because of competition and they make most of their money is from sales of drinks and food.
Just image if a few Grand Forks gas station owners came together and decided to charge, let’s say a nickel and dime a gallon more than the average gas station does in the state.
Sounds like a good business plan if you own a gas station and a real money maker over time.
In Grand Forks you have 4 primary owners of gas stations, Holiday, Cenex, Valley Dairy and Simonsons. All of which are locally owned, Cenex is 3 or 4 locations, Holiday is 3 locations, Valley Dairy has 6 and Simonsons has 4 locally and 17 regionally (I think they had 2 locations 15 years ago).
Most of these gas stations are doing very well; a few have new locations and or buildings and most have new digital display board.
I bet if you were to take and look at the markup per gallon on the fuel sold in Grand Forks vs Fargo you would be shocked. It would be nice if someone had the marbles to find the real numbers and let the public know.
