Howard, Miner County see steep drop in population

HOWARD Miner County had the largest percentage decrease in population in the last decade of all 17 counties in The Daily Republic coverage area, according to figures released by the U.S. Census Bureau.
The county’s population declined from 2,884 in 2000 to 2,389 in 2010, according to the census report. That’s a 17.16 percent decrease.
Howard, the county seat and largest town in Miner County, dropped from 1,071 people to 858, a 19.9 percent downturn. Continue Reading
