Budget cuts lead to longer plow routes
WORTHINGTON Between the falling snow and the blowing snow, Nobles County snowplow drivers have had more than their share of work to do this winter season but apparently it isn’t enough for some rural residents.
During their Nobles County Board meeting on Tuesday, Commissioners asked Public Works Director Stephen Schnieder for a report on the snowplowing situation. Several said they had received calls and complaints about roads not being cleared quick enough. In some instances, people complained that schools had to start late because the plows weren’t getting out early enough in the morning. Continue Reading&

Well there you go citizens of Nobles County. You wanted the fat cut from the budget. Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. Personally, I think with all these gas sucking SUV’s and trucks driven by the majority of the citizens, I really wonder what you have to complain about. Put that 4 wheel drive to use and get through those drifts and take your kids to school or keep them home if your roads aren’t cleared.

P.S. I think the plow crew does a phenomenal job.. Mother nature has been crazy this year. Those who expect the roads to be clear all the time need a reality check.

“Could you go out earlier in the morning and stay later at night?†asked Commissioner Diane Thier. Brilliant!
She must have missed the overtime part earlier. I’d say no overtime at all. The taxpayer shouldn’t pay overtime for anything short of an absolute emergency. So hang in there, they’ll get there and you’ll survive.

This article is about the county snowplows, merc. They don’t have anything to do with plowing your Worthington streets and alleys.

Again the wrong departments took a cut in their budget and the people of the county suffer you dont cut the highway department and emergency management and then give your self a raise we need to cut some positions in the county administration office starting at the top.

deno, apparently you dont depend on your job or are concerned for students. If the plows do notgo out, schools would not be able to operate and people would not be able to go to work and pay bills. Most plow drivers would rather NOT be out when the conditions are bad just like us, but they do it to get people and kids home safely. Sheeesh! Thank a plow driver, DONT critize them. It is the management who need to learn how to budget for our winters!!
