Oh yeah.. I remember my oldest, now almost 19, going through “growth spurts” as a younger teen. You could tell when he was having them because of the huge increase in appetite. It sticks with me the day he went out shopping with me and we decided to go to a buffet before doing the grocery shopping. I sat there finished for quite some time as he went up for plate after plate LOL Finally I suggested (jokingly) that maybe I should just go finish my shopping and come back for him afterward! haha

I found nothing new in the column and three differences from the way I was raised. One, yep, I grew 11 inches and gained 70 pounds in one year in high school and ate everything not nailed down. Two, no instant foods. My mother used it as a teaching tool to teach me to cook from scratch. Third, my mother insisted if I was hungry to eat balanced meals with every kind of food on my plate Result? I learned to cook and cook well and never adopted the convenience foods and second never was a picky eater.

Actually cook a meal these days?! And a healthy balanced one at that. That’s absurd!
