Sounds like a good idea. I would like some help monitoring how much salt my family gets when we go out to eat every now and then.
My guess is the people panicking about this are also afraid of fluoride in the water and seat belt laws. Grow up.

Back on the subject…. Just before Thanksgiving I decided to get serious about weight loss. I hired a weight loss coach and have lost 25 pounds (I average about 3 pounds a week). The key was sodium. I eat regular food I buy at the grocery store, I eat more food each day than I ever did before, but use considerably less salt. You’ll never get rid of it completely, but it’s shocking how much sodium is in some foods. The U.S.D.A. is on the right with this statement.

Sodium levels in food are very different than they were in the past. You are right. I cut down on sodium in my diet and I’ve felt better – with no loss in what I eat.

Or, instead of the government getting its mitts all over the food industry, people could do just as you did Jeff. They can make a personal choice to purchase food with less salt.
