   Last week it was,”Salt and sand dont work if it drops below 15 degrees.” Now all of a sudden that stuff works by simply cutting a “groove” into the ice? Get real! Now all we need is Broadway to get the big potholes filled sometime soon.

   Why dont they just come out and admit that they bought the wrong type of salt? A lot of talk going around about a screw up. Why would you use a salt that only worked above 15 degrees? Last time I checked, there arent very many days above 15. Makes you wonder how some are qualified in making these decisions.

   I agree with BOTH of the posters above. I drive the Alexandria roads DAILY for my work, in a large vehicle and I have to say, I have heard nothing but the lamest excuses as to WHY they don’t do the roads correctly. Try driving by the Coffee Pot early in the morning and see how many trucks are parked there while the guys are having breakfast ON THE TAX PAYERS MONEY!!! Sorry, but they do a terrible job plowing these roads. You dont shave the roads down to sheer ice and then complain when its like that and try and shave it with your new truck. Thats so stupid. I wish there was a school where these guys could go to that would teach them the PROPER way to plow a road. Also, the article said this:

   “One of the unfortunate aspects of this winter is that there hasn’t been a January thaw – a warm spell when the ice turns to slush and can be easily removed.”

   Ummmm….where were you these last few days when the temps hit near 30 or above??? A LOT of the roads were left slushy, where trucks should have been out there getting rid of the slush in preparation for this next chill. So, I say you’re all full of it and only do it for the paycheck. You take NO PRIDE in your work. I’m fed up with the stupid excuses as to WHY these roads are so crappy. I say, get rid of the leader, put someone in there that knows what to do, and clean house!!
