You mean the unions might have to feel the same pinch that the rest of us have felt? It’s about time!

You mean the pay freezes and medical cost increases they’ve taken for a good part of the last 5 years? With all due respect, they have been taking the pinch just like everyone else. This is such a tired talking point.
Hot debate. What do you think? 20 11
I don’t believe it is. For those of us in the private sector, we have been taking hits with our 401ks, the health care increases, the lack of pay raises for a better part of the last three years, while we see articles about unions getting pay raises, their pensions, and the difficulties in getting rid of under performing workers. For many of us, it’s about time that we see the ‘high and mighty’ unions of state labor and the higher education system in general start to have to deal with what the rest of us have been dealing with.

What pay increases for which unions? The last few years the Teachers at MSUM agreed to a pay freeze. Other employees in other unions on campus have NOT seen a pay increase in years due to the state’s problems. Where are you getting your facts from?

“We’re very careful in terms of what we do and where we do it, so that it really does not have a major impact on students,†Szymanski said.
The cuts they’ve made have had a major impact on students. Please, administrators, make your cuts, but don’t pretend that they don’t have a major effect on students. It’s insulting.

Big education has always led the way in price increases. Their greed knows no bounds!

“…lead the way in price increases.” I almost thought the military or med-pharma.

That is wrong.

Kev, I keep trying to figure out what you have against higher ed. Did you go to college? Learn anything? Have kids and plan to send ‘em? I’m really curious as to why you dislike higher ed so much. I’ve worked on a higher ed campus and have to tell you that I didn’t see any greed at all, but a lot of really great people trying to do the best for their students.

Could The Forum please get ahold of a different picture of Edna instead of always using this same old, horrible pic of her??? She looks like she’s 3/4ths of the way thru a 5th in this photo…

Big Ed, make sure you cut a few administrators too! Oh, and let go of all the people associated with the multicultural programs. They are the biggest waste of money and time within the university.
