“Where’s the beef?” Wendy’s restaurants once famously asked through its advertising, a swipe at its competitors’ burgers. Continue Reading

LOL, Didn’t they figure out it was junk food? Taco Bell has never been very good anyway.
Whats next, are they going to sue Velveeta for making “Processed Cheese Food” instead of real cheese….. Look out Kraft, your American pseudo cheese is next!!! Neither is, in truth real cheese!

I haven’t heard Michelle Obama comment on it yet, so it must be good for you.

Quite the ingredient list for some taco meat. In other news Taco Bell has been named one of the leading contributors to eliminating the feral cat problems in much of the southern United States.

And what harm has been done to the consumer as a result of their ads? Not a thing. I’m sure these shysters will find a huge panel of “victims” to represent. Probably morbidly obese losers on government assistance in front of a jury of illiterate trailer park trash with a lottery mentality. I say this as someone who hails from the rural south. An acquaintance who was a tort lawyer down south once drunkenly/ braggingly told me at a party how they select a jury. First, they excuse anybody who is a business owner. Second, they excuse anybody with a college degree ( unless they are social workers, He said this with a chuckle). Third, they excuse anybody who has been sued for anything. Fourth, they excuse anybody whose income is 4 times above the poverty line. Fifth, they love single moms on welfare or anybody on government disability with no obvious discernable disability in the courtroom. Yes, they ask all these questions on your jury selection form, and they are able to deselect 10 potential jurors without challenge. Of course they litigate these suits in the poorest counties knowing that there will not be more than 10 jury pool members who fill the above criteria. It is a huge scam. Our nation needs serious tort reform.
Hot debate. What do you think? 18 26

It’s a huge scam? Trailer park trash with a lottery mentality? Evidently you didn’t read the article because the plantiff is not asking for any money, she is simply demanding they stop selling this crud claiming it is beef. Because it isn’t.
I for one am all for truth in advertising because I like to know what I’m eating.

They are not asking for money yet. Wait. That will come up later. Also, look which state the suit was filed. I am all for truth in advertising too, but where is the harm? Anyways, don’t we already have punitive government agencies that should take care of this? Is it necessary to litigate something of no real consequence? Do you think this law firm is pursuing this out of some sense of altruism, ha…?

Pete: Taco Bell said they will fight this with all their power. Taco Bell is not putting anything unhealthy in the meat, all taco joints use filler’s like Oatmeal and Soy so I don’t see a problem with it and it’s good and you get more meat like product for your money, nothing wrong with oatmeal and soy.

Adding oatmeal and soy in place of beef certainly would make it a healthier dish.

Obviously Taco Bell wants to stay on the good side of Michelle Obama’s Bureau of Food Compliance.

Assuming your friend was telling the truth, are those guidelines only applied to class action lawsuits? I know a Professional Engineer (a co-worker) that was selected for a jury once.

He is a partner in a firm who litigated abestos cases and made out big in the tobacco settlements. His firm is in a huge/ plush building in one of the poorest counties in East Texas . They have a chef within their firm provide them with gourmet meals daily. The original partner has a private jet and comes in and out in a limo. The real victims of the abestos cases got a pittance, yet the law firm literally made billions. He has to have a bodyguard because when it was revealed in an extensive article wriiten in a state publication how much he made out in the asbestos litigation, there were endless death threats from his clients. The lawyer who is a partner was at a party with a mutual acquaintance and he tends to brag and was roaringly drunk. I was not impressed.
A year later I was called on an asbestos case from a separate law firm. Knowing most of the jury pool ( since it is a small county) I witnessed what he said was true, including my exclusion. I was in the second row and should have been easily included based on my place in line. What I am discussing is what happens down south. Up here, most suits have to be halfway reasonable and jury awards tend to be much smaller.

I was more surprised that Taco Bell uses real chicken and real steak. My only concern with this lawsuit is that I really like the way their “beef” tastes. I would prefer they don’t mess with their formula.

Taco bell is disgusting and should be put out of business. They have contributed to poor nutrition, obesity, cardiovascular disease and countless other health problems in this country. I really don’t understand how people can work for a company that provides a LOW quality product. It must be humiliating and embarrassing.

Lets not take personal responsibility into account for “poor nutrition, obesity, cardiovascular disease and countless other health problems in this country.” Anything is fine in moderation. WAKE-UP!!!

Telling people to take personal responsibility is ineffective. If you don’t believe me look around. People are given all kinds of information about what is healthy and unhealthy and they are still fat and dying of heart attacks. It’s time to try something that works…shut em down.

That is not Taco Bells or any other fast food joints fault. Sounds like a liberal response. People can’t think for themselves, so someone else (probably Govt) should do it for them.
Like or Dislike: 12 12
Are you saying Taco Bell has no responsibility for what they do in OUR society? That sounds like social irresponsibility to me.
People can think for themselves, the problem is they can’t maintain behavior which is in their longterm self-interest because society is set up in a way that almost guarantees they fail. Yes, having a McDonalds and Taco Bell on every corner will increase the chances of failing to eat healthy.

Shut what down? The businesses selling a legal product or the idiots who aren’t able to figure out that a steady diet of fast food and soda is not good for you. Be more specific on who shoud be shut down.

Ya because the guy behind the counter really cares whats in the beef. And im sure the most embarrassing and humiliating part of working for taco bell is quality of the beef.

Nigel, I wasn’t talking about the guy behind the counter. I was talking about the higher ups; the white collar execs who run taco bell.

As you know NOTHING about the food industry, you should really see how much fat is contained in those meals at restaurants that you think are good. Eating out is unhealthy anyways. It is funny you are so up in arms about this as I am sure you support something that YOU like that can be construed as bad for people.

I know when I’m looking for a high quality meal, Taco Bell is my first choice…ha. Their food is not the greatest for a person, nutrition wise, but whatever they’re putting in the tacos is delicious. I can see how eating there often could cause all sorts of health problems, just like any other fast food chain. Most people fail to realize that sodium is just as bad as fat. This may only be a class action suit where they request a change in their advertising, but I wouldn’t be one bit surprised when the worms crawl from the woodwork claiming that this false advertisement was the reason why they became fat and that $30,000 will fix their habits…

Some people also are just getting off work and get tired of hamburger’s, the taco is the answer, not everyone is drunk at 1am. Another plus is that at Taco Bell you can order what you want you don’t have to pick a full meal from McDonald’s or Burger King. The Taco Shop closes so early that I was never able to make it there in time, (My favorite spot) for real aswome tacoes and of course the Taco place that is open till 2am the Red Pepper is in Grand Forks, I think the Taco Shop should pull it’s ? out of it’s >

I would rather stay ignorant about the real ingredients in my late night grease cravings. But I guess the only time I’ve eaten Taco Bell was after the bar and its just too delcious at 1:30am for me to be detered by oatmeal and soy.
Oatmeal and Soy are better for you than beef byproducts……

This is making me hungry! Well where I now live in the Philippines the closest Taco Bell is about 70 miles away and takes 5 hrs to get to NUTZ! Thank God I worked at the a privately owned taco place for 3 years and can make my own Taco’s. Hey folks this may sound like a news flash but all Taco places use fillers for their meat it makes it stick together and actually helps with the flavor, I use oatmeal it works like a charm, can’t tell you how to make it though, I can tell you that it takes a lot longer than just frying the meat and you never want to use those packets of taco powder for this.

Do they subscribe to the McDonald’s train of thought that filler should consist of an acceptable amount of rat feces according to the USDA?

I thought that by eating at Taco Bell, I couldn’t make it any clearer that I don’t give a damn what I put into my body

Mcalleyboy – I’m interested in your recipe!! I want to make healthier tacos with the spices I have versus the packets of seasoning but my hubby claims they “won’t taste right”… If you were kind enough to share your recipe I’d be kind enough to keep it a secret!! =)
What’s so bad about some 93% lean hamburger from Hornbachers and about 2/3 of the packet of taco seasoning from, say, Ortega? Tastes awesome, I’m sure it’s healthier than Taco Bell too.

What’s this world coming to when fast food isn’t healthy anymore.
Like or Dislike: 2 1
I agree: “what is this world coming to!†Next thing you know there will be people suing for reasons like fast food restaurants making them fat or spilling hot coffee on themselves after ordering – wait for it… YES! Hot coffee. Oh wait…
The whole point of this lawsuit is this. If something has to meet certain criteria to be called something and it’s not, it’s consumer fraud.
I think they are splitting hairs here because the “seasoned beef” is only 5% below the requirement to be called beef so either Taco Bell needs to add 5% more “beef” or prepare to lose the lawsuit.
IMO, 40% “beef” isn’t beef. That means it’s 60% something else.
I don’t like this because if they are required to add more beef to their food, that will just raise prices and I like myself some cheap Taco Bell at 1am! If I want to put crappy (but delicious) food in my stomach then it should be my right to.

No wonder I get the trotskies after eating at Taco Bell!

I don’t know what Taco John’s uses in their meat but I’d take it over Taco |-|ell anyday! The only acceptable time to eat at taco bell is after 1am and if everything else in town is closed or you are too drunk to go any further w/o getting a DUI
