Hamm says western North Dakota shale formation holds 20 billion barrels
BISMARCK Billionaire oilman Harold Hamm told North Dakota bankers on Thursday that government estimates of recoverable oil in the Bakken and Three Forks formations are too conservative. Continue Reading

Because we need oil to keep the country running. And I see a problem with using candles for light and wood to heat homes. We need oil and we need coal.

Until the alternatives have the infrastructure and capacity to make them cost effective and readily available yes, we need oil. Not just to live our lives, but to continue to compete in a global market.
There just aren’t any realistic viable alternatives available today, although things are slowly changing. In the meantime, we most definately need oil.

and what facts do you use that says we don’t have the infrastructre or capacity? you seem to know everything maybe you should let us in on your sources

You are expecting sources to prove things that don’t exist?
OK. Go out and buy an real electric car in Fargo. And purchase renewable-source electricity. Or go buy and then try to fuel up a hydrogen powered car. Or go ride the electric bus.
I could go on and on, but I think the proof is pretty obvious. I am fortunate in Moorhead that for a reasonable fee I do indeed purchase all renewable power (hydro and wind). But that isn’t an option in most cities.

I would rather under estimate than over estimate.
My brother has met this man many times and said he is a real square shooter, he tells you the way it is not WHAT you want to hear. Too many people out there want to blow smoke up your butt to get their way not his gentleman.

20 billion barrels of oil?? Then why don’t we keep that in this state and drop our gas prices to a dollar per gallon. Cheap gas increases tourism and people would actually move to this state.

It doesn’t work like that. The state doesn’t own the oil, the company that pumped it does. If you somehow tried to prevent them from moving it out of state, they would just leave it in the ground and wait for better times.

I’m thankful that this man has become a Billionaire through his work in N.Dakota. And along the way he’s helped make many, many millionaires in our state among land owners and business owners (you likely know a few). The economic impact is incredible for our economy here at home. —> Now contrast that with the BILLIONS and BILLIONS of $$ we send to the middle east for oil each year. Tell you what, I’ll take a thousand Harold Hamms here in N.Dakota before I’d choose to send one red cent to the middle east. Don’t hate this guy for becoming a billionaire. I’d rather see us creating American billionaires and N.Dakota millionaires than sending our jobs and money overseas. Keep on drilling here at home!!

Capitalism is in deed great. Seems only the rich left wing socialist want to kill off
your right to live well and have businesses make a profit.
