Businesses deserve spurge

The Forum’s recent dubious leafy spurge distinction to drivers who insist upon driving in horrible weather, thus putting themselves and others in danger, deserves a footnote. Continue Reading

Amen. When I was working as a custodian at Concordia College, I started work at 5 AM. If the college closed they did not announce it until 6 AM. The workers who started after 6 AM got the day off with pay, (Storm Day). However, the custodians, who arrived at 5 AM had to stay or if they went home, they were docked a days pay.
The college was so much in favor of cultural diversity, however,it seems that they did not think to much about class diversity; and put these custodians at risk.
Not a very good example for a Christan College. I hope they have changed their policy today.

You stole my thunder. I was about to say “AMEN” as well. And that’s shocking that Concordia would go so low as to dock a day’s pay for people who wanted to go home while they could still get there! I wonder who wrote that crappy policy!

This should include the members of the media as well as they were all salivating to be the first to get to the crash scene. We the public could get all the news we needed from rescue personnel calling into the radio/TV stations to give us updates. We don’t need those self promoting journalists trying to report their spin on the weather all they while the talking heads on their stations chastising the general public and telling us to stay off the roads. The journalists risk putting the rescue personnel in more danger if they get stuck and have to be rescued.
JOURNALISTS/MEMBERS OF THE MEDIA – take your own advice and stay off the roads when you are preaching to us to do the same.

I guess Ms. Ciwak wanted the taxpayers of ND to pay for her to have another day off because she wanted NDSU to close so she could stay home. When the day started people could travel.
As someone who only collects a paycheck and only signs the backside its easy for her to sit and criticize a business owner. Let her put up her hard earned money and try to employ people then she will have a legitimate gripe, until then she appears just to be another lazy pubic employee who wanted a day off in my opinion.

Oh yes, the poor business owner (sarcasm). So it’s your “hard earned money” versus someone risking their life, huh? I’m glad I don’t work for you. Let me know which business you own so I can warn my friends not to seek jobs there and so I can boycott it.

Every employer I know gives employees the option of coming to work or not and does their best to keep the workplace open so people can do their jobs and earn their paycheck. Not everyone collects a days pay whether they report for work or not.
