Charges? For what? Yes, I know the article says animal abandonment, but they tried to find a home for them. And when that failed, they took them to a shelter. At least they didn’t slit the dogs’ throats like that other guy did. This is stupid.

They dropped them off at a veterinary clinic, NOT a shelter. A shelter would be something like the Humane Society.

File charges, if charges are to be filed it should be against the idiot trying bring up the charges for being so stupid.

You can give up your baby and leave them at the police station or fire department, but if you drop off your dogs, you get charged? This is probably from the same idiots who want to smoke in the car with their kids.

Why the urgent deadline for finding them homes?! Lots of animals are in shelters much longer than that. It would be sick if these nice dogs were put down because of somebody’s arbitrary deadline. Just sick.

Shelters are not pounds. Pounds have limited space and a tight deadline. The shelters rescue animals from the pound so they have more time to be adopted.

Charges for dropping animals off at an animal shelter after trying to find a home for them? Isn’t that purpose of a shelter….to shelter animals until a home can be found for animals. Like Lucas said at least he didn’t slit their throats and let them run around to suffer or take them out and shoot them. They weren’t adapting well to a new baby at home….so if he would have kept them and the baby was injured then he would be sitting in jail because he didn’t do something about it earlier. I guess its a lose-lose situation no matter what he would have done. Total BS…on a second note why put these animals down why didn’t this article some up right after they were dropped off so a decent home for the wonderful animals could have been found before a stupid dead line. If I was able to I would take them but wouldn’t fit well into my situation at the moment and I would hate to take them and then have charges filed when it didn’t work out.

Not that I really agree with bringing charges, but there is a procedure for dropping animals off at a pound. You have to prove the animals are yours, and fill out information. This guy basically ran in, told a crap story, and then dashed away leaving the animals behind.
You can leave any animal you want at the pound but you can’t just toss an animal or two at them and run.

One word sums this story up….

You DON’T know that they really tried to find a home. They could just be saying that to not get any charges and to make it look like they tried. There are rescues in Fargo, South Dakota, Detroit Lakes & Minneapolis that they could of called. These rescues know of other rescues and they will step up and work the system to find homes. They should be charged to make an example of them.

Are these now the two German Shepherds on Craig’s List? These people do not need to be charged. They did the right thing in the wrong way. They did not take them out in the country and turn them lose, like some dirtbags do. They did not try to kill them like that dirtbag in Minnesota did with Star. We do not really have a Shelter in the F-M area, and this is why it is important that we have one. Pounds are not Shelters.
S.L. we have at least 3 rescues within the FM area. Adopt-A-Pet, 4luvofdog, Human Society. In Detroit Lakes there is Lucky Dog. I am sure Grand Forks and Jamestown both have rescues. These people may not of taken them in the country and turned them loose but they still dropped them off, left them, abandoned them, turned their back on them. Animals are not disposable once you are tired or them or they don’t fit into your home or life style. They couldn’t of tried very hard to find a home for them.
