North Dakotans will be enjoying the fruits of Sen. Byron Dorgan’s legislative successes long after he’s a chapter in a history book. Continue Reading

Perhaps, the one thing that can be said about dorgan’s term in the US Senate, “TOO DAMN LONG”!
Enough of career politicians!
Now, send the big “O” into retirement.
He has spent enough time trying to destroy this country!

Thank God for Byron Dorgan! He is one of the smartest and most successful members of Congress. I predict that the people who voted for Hoeven (who clearly do not understand what it takes to be a good senator)will very much regret it. He no longer will be giving orders to others and hiding in an office– He will have to be an effective speaker and negotiator. He has proven to be good at neither.
And just what meaningful legislation did Byron propose that benefitted the US during his 30 years? What legislation has his name on it? All Byron did was bring home pork – he is one of the all time king of pork. If being a porker is success, I don’t want that kind of success. Name me one meaningful legislative issue that Bryon proposed that got passed.
I for one am glad this ND disgrace if gone.
National sex offender registry so sex offenders couldn’t just move to a different state and disappear.
Tribal law and order act.
That’s just a couple of recent things.
Often a senator doesn’t prime sponsor something. He takes a bill that is moving through and adds things.
Plus they have a great effect by pushing on the administration and agencies.
Anyone who’s actually involved in running this state has seen Dorgan do lots.
Thank you for writing this swell editorial, Mrs. Dorgan.
Did he move back to “his apartment” in Bismarck yet?
His legacy is never having worked for a real living in his life. Collecting government checks your entire life is some legacy. He dictated rules to corporations despite not knowing a single thing how things work.
Dorgan was a great Senator. Hoeven has already started to show that he will a strong one as well. His recent turning on McConnell on the earmark issue shows that he won’t be a tool and a stooge for the Repubican party. Thank you Senator Dorgan and good luck Senator Hoeven.
Yes. a legacy of 14 TRILLION dollars of debt, a weakened military, and militant liberal boondoggles.
liberty-he has been a champion for the indian tribes in the usa! additionally, he has worked very hard to solve the flood problems on the red. zardoz-do you mean the 2 bogus wars that bush screwed up? senator dorgan did a lot for the state of north dakota. let’s see how hoeven does, shall we?
So the measure of success of a US Senator is to bring home money from the federal piggy bank (read US taxpayers) while running up trillions of dollars in debt. Basically doing what the ‘evil bankers’ are acused of doing – making sure they get theirs while running the company (country) into the ground. Why don’t we get editorials about how successful these bankers were for living in huge houses as their companies are run into the ground? How does what they did differ from what Mr. Dorgan did?
