Man charged with criminal sexual conduct

JACKSON A man who was unsuccessful in his bid for a county commissioner seat in Jackson County’s fourth district during the 2010 election was recently charged with first- and second-degree criminal sexual conduct in Jackson County District Court, according to a criminal complaint. Continue Reading

Mr. Edwards is quoted in the article as saying, “The teenager causes problems when she doesn’t get her way.” I think the victim was more likely trying to “get away” not get her way.
Having been in a very similar situation when I was her age, I know from experience that perpetrator’s routinely tell lies about the victim and berate the victim at every possible opportunity to whoever they think will listen. This is why it always sends red flags whipping in the wind when I hear adult men berating a child. I always have to question what their motives are for wanting to try and convince others that the child is the one who’s bad. Most of the time, as in this case, it’s the other way around.

Thank you for you comment. The general public does not iunderstand how the Offenders justify there actions. My daughter was a victim over 10 years ago and a Worthington Jury chose to set him free….I kringe at the thought of their actions……I know that my daughter was not the first child and also was not the last. Jail this man…..save children….from the torcher of a life time of pain….The victim serves a life term..why not the Perpetrator!

Both of you, Jackson law enforcement and this sham of a newspaper should be ashamed of yourselves. Since when in our great country of ours is a man guilty before proven innocent? I thought it was supposed to be the other way around. You made up your mind when you read this article. Because you read it in a paper makes it true? We know how the media “embelishes” and doesn’t provide all the facts in order to make the story more interesting than what it actually is. Where in this article is his side of the story. I think the reporter and the editor of this paper should be fired and sued for slander. More importantly, when is our nation going to investigate facts before arresting someone. Just because a “woman” says she’s being harassed, molested, whatever it may be, why is it always that law enforcement will always take the side of the woman? Women never cause the same crimes? Think about what you say, think or write before you act. Don’t judge, there is only one person that will judge all of us, and that’s not a Jackson County judge or law officer.

Vicdandee ( your real name?) Why shouldn’t you be ashamed of your self for siding with a( possible) child molester? Are you neutral? Not in the least. You know nothing about the case either……….The newspaper reports, the County attorney files charges….and a judge or jury passes final judgement. Not every person is innocent because you would like them to be. (OJ was inoccent??) Some are guilty regardless of the outcome….May be your friend has charges filed by the county attorney. Aim you anger at the police and /or County attorney who files the charges. They do not file these charges with out good cause. This is not a male or female issue, you are the only one who alluded to gender..Take a bit of your own advise….don’t judge me or the victim . If you were a victim you would have a different point of view….respect others who have had experienced abuse…..they have a right to an opinion……and I say have no mercy for a perpetrator….God will judge, yes the perpetrator too. It is a painful existance to be a victim. Do not judge the victim, you are saying the victim is a liar…are you judging???? How does it feel?

If it makes you feel better, Vicdandee, the perpetrator who sexually abused me and three others for many years, walked away free. The other three were only the ones I knew of. That should make your day! Back in the late 1970′s and early 80′s, victims didn’t have a voice. Sex offenders were still enjoying the freedom of continually reoffending victim after victim without restraint because in those days, they could. The perpetrator who abused me is a very public person who is well known in his church and in his community. All I hear from people is how nice of a guy he is. A woman from his church who worked at the school in the Counselor’s office told me, “Little girls have their burdens to suffer.” The only person who believed me was a teacher who was new to the area, fresh out of college and who didn’t have a very high opinion of certain other staff persons who he knew swept things under the rug. Even though there wasn’t much he was able to do to help me in those days, he was at least one adult who believed me. My point is, sex offenders have enjoyed a long history of freedom. In some small rural communities, they still do.
