Emmer campaign stiffs Kandiyohi Co. out of $1,400 during recount
December 14, 2010 at 6:00 pm in West Central Tribune
WILLMAR Sam Modderman doesn’t know exactly how many hours he and his staff spent preparing a cache of documents requested by Tom Emmer during the governor’s recount. But he knows the county hasn’t been paid for the work.

Emmer sure works hard at making his own name mud, as well as the Republican party. You can’t make this stuff up!
Although Harold will probably accuse the media of making this up and tarnishing Emmer’s “great image.”

Not too sure that attacking someone who hasn’t even written a comment yet shows a “great image” of you.

Yep, like I really hurt his feelings. While I think Harold is a raving lunatic, he is an adult and probably can handle the heat.

It’s not up to you to decide whether you hurt his feelings or not. I’m sure he can handle the heat too. You might want to comment about him after he comments, not before. Carry on though, you’re showing your true colors.

Expect Wctrib may update Bold Headlines and the AFSCME person (member??) would go along wi th the correction when it would say, gov-elect moneybags and tom e didn’ t pay for informa tion . R. O may ask, how do we minnesotans know that. We don’ t, only because it was never sent, even though gov moneybags did ask for same info, as Tom E. did. Headlines need correction, even tho- damage done.

Harold, did you miss the part that said that Dayton paid for everything he received and that his other requests were only for copies of things that Emmer received. Meaning no copies sent, nothing owed?
Whether Emmer actually picked up or received any of the information he demanded is not relevent. His initial demand, accompanied with threats, are what caused the counties to incur the expenses.
Do you honestly believe that the taxpayers of each county should have to foot the bill for work done exclusively for the Emmer campaign and that they obviously weren’t even really interested in having?

katydid – notice Sam did not send the CD to Dayton altho Dayton asked to be sent the same information as Emmer had requested(which Sam never contacted Dayton to see if he wanted). Maybe he did not want to send both to bill collectors nor have two newspaper articles. Which, in my opinion, would be bi-partisan. Notice the bill of $1,400 was going to be sent to both parties. Would that be considered double billing? At least Dayton says he pays so Sam would be out no money at all. ;<)

note— forgot to mention, gov elect DFLer gov moneybags never really needed more information about the votes counted. After all. he had DFLer Mn. Sec of State DFLer markie richie with DFLer Mn. A.G. DFLer Lori S in his Corner backing up the DFLers not wanting to have the same amount of people at the polls than voted to add up to the vote total. That infor– Tom E needed was meanless to gov moneybags, after all, as we now know, even the courts took sides with the DFL. They could care less if there were more votes for moneybags in HIs stronghold than there were voters. Toooooo Badddddd

Yeah, funny how that works.
No matter how much someone whines, snivels, throws a tantrum and tries to drag things out to the Nth degree, justice and truth usually prevail.

Here’s a better article:
http://mankatofreepress.com/local/x478097210/Bills-are-coming-due-for-recount …From the article: Days after the election, Emmer representatives requested from all counties copies of polling place rosters, election day registration cards, voter applications, information about all election judges and more. The Dayton camp then requested that many counties also provide them copies. “They just insisted they had to have the machine tapes right away,†said Patty O’Connor, Blue Earth County elections director. “I sent bills for $800, of which Dayton paid and Emmer did not. I have requested at least three times, where’s my payment, and they’ve responded to nothing.â€

You forgot this little tidbit of onfo from the article: “Recently, Emmer’s recount attorney, Tony Trimble, has told counties to send the bills to the Republican Party for payment, O’Connor said.” You’re a reporter? Nice…

Maybe if the Dems pay fthe balance due($10,000) on their convention held in Duluth(how come the Dems don’t cry about that?) in April, 2010,7 or 8 months ago, then maybe the Reps will pay their bills which are only 1 or 2 months old. But one can see “journalists” do not report but activists do.

Is anyone really surprised by this? Everyone should be angry about this regardless of party affiliation or candidate. Politicians know that 30% of the people are going to vote for them simply because they have a D or R next to their name on the ballot box so why should they worry about silly little things like ethics and paying bills?
When you start holding your party’s candidate to the same standards you hold the opposition party’s candidate, government will start working for you again. It’s that simple.. we are the problem. The person who decided to bring illegal immigration into this is a good example. Start being part of the solution.

Looks like Meeker County, Auditor Barbara Loch is a little brighter than Modderman. Notice also that even though her dept did the work, Emmer was not charged/billed because they did not pick up the information. Sounds like the same should apply to Kandiyohi County.

I personally think that Kandiyohi County should have done what Swift County did……..makes sense to me!

The bottom line here that Emmer’s campaign requested information, and threatened legal action against those counties that failed to gather the information by certain deadlines… so, counties did as they were told… Whether anyone from the campaign actually followed thru with picking up the info, doesn’t matter. The invoices aren’t billing for actual information, but rather for labor costs, and supply costs… whether or not Emmer’s campaign made use of the info, or even looked at the info, it was still gathered for them, at their request, and should be paid for… and if Emmer’s campaign finally receives the info, and pays the invoices… and the info is then also sent to Dayton’s campaign (per their request), then they should pay those invoices, too.
Seems to me that Swift county was the brightest bulb here – learned from the past and didn’t bother incurring charges that have been historically unpaid.

Not really – but, at least to me, this was obviously more of a “cost of doing business” issue than a political one. Apparently not everyone interprets the article the same way, huh?

gov elect moneybags dayton we Minnesotans were t old hired over 2000 plus lawyers and others to make sure that votes given to DFLer Mn Sec of State to be confirmed legal by DFLer Mn. A. G. DFLer Lori S . matched the number of people or voters that voted. No wonder it took (weeks!) for those 2000 plus DFLers to get their ACT, ( I mean numbers) together to present to the PUBLIC. Tom E had what, 20-30 at the most to protect the rest of Minnesotans interest. Easy even for you to understand why he asked for information, had the shoe been on your foot, you would of doubled the requests.

One should not even comment on Harolds wild conspiracy because the evidence could fall from the sky and hit this rock head in the head and he still would dispute the findings. The fact that the recount didn’t change and as a matter of fact gave Dayton more votes still does not sit right with Harold. If Emmer didn’t pay the bill why should that shock anyone, he racked up several DWI’s, and a reckless driving charge that could have been another DWI, which speaks for itself. At least the guy realized it was over, and dragging it on would cost tax payers a bunch more of money. Too bad a guy like Harold can’t see that because its all about a Republican getting into office, no matter what the tax payers would have to pay, right Harold?

j d t alk about picking up the TABS as you wrote about a DWI , In return I ask and many Minnesotans do to, who picked up the tabs for gov. elect moneybags all those times he was in de- tox no MATTER if here in Mn. or when he was a U. S Senator in Wash D.C., add to that invoice the meds for his mental health?
