A catastrophic release of water from Devil’s Lake would affect more than just the areas downstream on the Sheyenne and Red Rivers. I think water would back up the Red River and have far reaching effects upstream as well. It’s great that things are being planned to prevent this, but the question is, will it be done in time? I check the lake and river levels occasionally and it seems the water level is going down slowly on Devil’s Lake. Let’s just hope that trend continues!
