Nobles county could save more money by cutting the overpaid county administration and trimming the more than generous benefits that the administration gets. Totally painless to the taxpayers and no loss of services.

I have to agree with this editorial. It seems like the county commissioners have an agenda that is not in the best interest of the citizens of Nobles County. I would think there are other places that could be cut that do not include cutting a vital position like your emergency management director who has had great success in the past. I also think that blaming his cut on the Sheriff’s office is lame. When I read the earlier article related to this editorial I was surprised that the commissioners would make a totally thoughtless remark like that. Are there not other spots that can be cut that does not involve cutting personnel. I don’t think there has been much thought or effort put into this. Again I wonder if these commissioners are truly serving the citizens of Nobles County or someone’s personal agenda. It is time for the commissioners to step up and act like responsible elected officials and find a reasonable, plausible and workable way to operate the county and its budget. Maybe take the time to research what they are doing and figure out several different solutions to a situation instead of just cutting necessary staff. I also have to agree with beans-maybe some cuts should be made in administration. I noticed in a prior article that Mr. Ruppert had his annual eval. Did he receive a wage increase or is he on a pay freeze? One more way to save some money.
