Two area counties were recognized recently for placing in the top 10 nationally in per capita fundraising for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
Douglas County ranked first in the nation and the Midwest Division for counties with populations up to 9,999. The county’s Relay for Life event last summer raised a total of $85,057, or $27.22 per capita. Organizers won the Gordy Klatt Award for the highest amount raised per capita nationwide.
