Early bird gets the worm? In this case, it is more like, “conformist lemmings fall into the consumer debt trap.”

Indeed, everybody financed what they bought.

You have to be totally nuts to camp out for more than a day in that horrible weather yesterday to get a sale.. (or any weather for that matter)… what exactly would be so important that you just have to have it?? C’mon people get a life!.. there has to be something more to you than wanting more stuff!

Most of the HDTVS and Blu ray players that have deep discounts arnt even on the manufacturers website as they are made just for today. They have the specs of a 4-5 year old electronics. You can buy most of those older electronics online for the same price anytime of the year. Do your research before you buy them…

Its true, when I went there today to get a deal, there weren’t any and I pretty much lost out… but really, I won.

Judging by the crowds, I guess the economy is back to normal, or was it all put on plastic?

Got into Target last year and had all my junk picked out in 15 minutes, then I waited in line for almost 3 hours. I’d have to say that Target didn’t get a lot of money out of me that day, but the time was too much. Never going to fall for Black Friday again. The deals aren’t that great and, especially with large ticket electronics, waiting until January is a better bet for deals.

I think Black Friday shopping compares well with hunting or fishing.
1.) What you get/save isn’t worth the time you but into it.
2.) It is more about the comraderie of who you are with, then the actual act.
3.) You don’t do it because of the money saved (fish or meat in the store is way cheaper).
4.) Occasionally there are accidents and people die.
5.) Others think you are crazy.
If it turns your crank and you are respectful of others, then it doesn’t much matter to me. There are always a few crazies in the group (fishermen, hunters or Black Friday shoppers) that act like jerks. I suspect it is because they ARE jerks, not because of what they are doing.
You could probably make similar comparisons to other hobbies like scrapbooking. Beware that rare terminal papercut.
