I like this one,”Chicks were debeaked and had their back toes amputated without painkiller.”
Do they know why these things are done? So the birds to shred each other to bits, which would hurt much more. Imagine the cost/labor if pain killers were used? Like when farmers cut off pigs tails & fangs, or bulls are made into steers etc etc. Give me a break.

Clearly the debeaking and clipping is because the birds harm eachother. I didnt like seeing that (did you watch the video?) but I did understand why they did it. However, grinding anything alive is about as inhumane as it gets. People say it doesnt matter because its a bird, a snake, a pig, whatever, but it ALWAYS matters. We have the ability to think empathically a behave humanely, then lets use it and be humane. WPC has a great reputation and are good employers, They will fix the problems and be better for it I am sure.

I agree that animal cruelty is wrong. But all this is just a hopeless tacit for the HSUS to stop farming altogether.

Justin, you are right on the mark. I don’t agree with mistreatment of animals either. But most of us are going to have turkey for dinner tomorrow. Next summer we’ll enjoys a BLT with fresh tomoatos and my families favorite lunch meat is deli turkey. Anyone for burgers or steaks on the grill? We’re going to keep eating meat dispite the human society or peta trying to hug every living creature.
And why is Jimmy whining about Jennie O when this article pertains to Willmar Poultry? They are not do-owned & operated.

Some of us choose not to eat turkey, with 99% of the reason being because of how turkeys are raised. Turkey? No thanks! I’ll stick to home-grown beef, raised on local farms.

For the record, Jennie-O purchases turkeys that were hatched as WPC poults…that’s why he makes the association.
IMHO, if they’re going to kill an animal, do it quickly and humanely. Otherwise, there are far more areas of animal cruelty/abuse in the world, than this. Slaughtering of dolphins, overcrowded feedlots, whale harpooning, poaching, etc. Little chicks are cute, but they get over this process fairly quickly…to be raised, killed and eaten.
