To come up with $500,000 – an easy step to take would be to freeze the master salary schedule for two years.
At a minimum, they could save a half million dollars out of Alexandria’s huge budget.

Just at West Central Area schools, a freeze on the master salary schedule (with approx. 52 teachers) would save $100,000 over a 2-year period. Shift that to the rest of the staff and the savings would be a bit higher for 2011-2012 and 2012-2013.
