Moorhead City Council members wrestled with a loaded question Monday night: Should the city make it a misdemeanor for someone to carry a fake firearm on their body within city limits?

Look out kids if you play cowboy and indians or army games with your buddies, the big bad cops of Moorehead will arrest you. Think the city is going a little overboard with its ridiculous laws?

It was not an awesome experience for us,†Ebinger said,…
Well whaaaaaaa! I am the police and I should be the only ones with guns real or fake! What a foolish line of thinking. What are they going to do if folks actually start carrying real guns in the open as is their civil right?
Oh, but crime does not happen in parks so there is no need for a gun I guess. But if that is true, then did the responding police have theirs or leave them in the car? Read the PDF file at http://www.gunfacts.info and google DR Gary Kleck to find that guns are used defensivly 2.5 MILLION time a year in this country. So, about 7,000 times a day, Guns SAVE Lives!

“They asked Ebinger and Melton if they could accept wording that made it illegal to carry a facsimile weapon in public places, meaning the activity would be OK in private homes.”
They want to outlaw toy guns in people’s homes? They complain that people’s freedom gets in the way of their whatever else they have going on? Are the poor peasants making life too hard for the ruling class? Get out the guillotine; it is time for a revolution.

The way I understand it, they want to make fake guns illegal in situation which real guns are legal, is this correct? If they must make a law regarding fake guns, I think that they should instead make one that says fake guns will be treated like real guns unless it is obvious that they are fake. If someone is threatening someone with a fake gun, than that should be illegal. It should, however, be legal for someone to carry around a fake gun in a manner which would be deemed legal with a real firearm.

With this law, could not my son run around our yard with his green squirt gun? I am afraid the police may arrest him but it is no fun for the children to have squirt guns and not fill them with water. What will be the penalty for the children who may be caught? Might they be put in jail? Could not the police use some common sense when approaching a child with a green squirt gun?
