“Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., may leave his powerful position as chairman of the Senate Budget Committee to take the chairmanship of the Agriculture Committee.â€
So, the rats are abandoning the sinking ship.
What’s his theory? I’ve done as much damage to the budget in the last 3 years as I can – let’s see if I can take over the helm of the Ag Committee and see if we can run the farming industry up on the rocks, too?
Hot debate. What do you think?

His theory is in the last line of the article. “If some of us have to sacrifice a political career to get the country back on track, then so be it. I has to be done.”
Oh,…. but, by the way, when I said “some of us”, I didn’t mean ME. I’ll be over at the Ag committee because “my state needs me there”.
What our state and our country needs is someone in Washington that will make the tough choices. If Conrad is going to shrink from the responsibility, he doesn’t deserve to be sent back there again in 2012.

A recent Agweek article recently stated “For Conrad to stay on the budget committee would be “a big mistake. Look what happened to (House Budget Chairman John) Spratt.†Mr. Spratt was ousted from the seat he held for nearly three decades following a campaign that painted him as an out-of-touch lackey of Washington Democrats.
Current Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) also lost her bid for re-election. Heads are rolling, so there is an opening for the position which Mr. Conrad is considering taking, and he seems to think that he might have a better chance of retaining his Senate seat if he vacates his position as Senate Budget Committee Chairman.
After years of approving the deficit spending that is bankrupting our nation, politicians are trying to get out of the hot seat and find safer positions in government before they get fired. I don’t feel that the current crop of political leaders are capable of fixing the messes they have created, and many more will be unseated in 2012.

Out of the three representatives from North Dakota that we sent to Washington the one I’ve liked the least over the years has been Conrad. Dorgain I believe as for North Dakota simply due to the amount of fighting he did for farmers, native americans, the research corridor, the veterans home in Lisbon.. But I haven’t voted for this guy in the last two elections. Out of any of them he needs to go come next election cycle.
