having worked on a b.i.a. highway project on the pine ridge south dakota reservation, and developing friendships with a number of the tribal members, i have a better understanding of the needs of the people on reservations. i truly applaud dr wame for his efforts, and wish him every success. this is also an area where senator dorgan will be sorely missed. his efforts toward helping the various tribes is well known, and well appreciated.

Mr. Lucas, many people in other parts of the world find the way the US treats Native Americans similar to placing them in jail. Why is it that the US people treat the Native Americans in this way and disparages them. Are there jobs available where the US government places these people? If this was happening in some country elsewhere, President Bush, he would bomb them. Yet it goes on here. This makes no sense.
